Dialogue on Pharmaceutical pricing policies to improve the population’s access to pharmaceuticals in Georgia

Curatio International Foundation held a Policy Dialogue on “Pharmaceutical pricing policies to improve the population’s access to pharmaceuticals in Georgia.” The meeting has been conducted in the frame of the project that Curatio International Foundation is implementing with American University of Beirut, Knowledge to Policy centre (K2P), by the support of the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (AHPSR).

The evidence synthesis document entitled: “Mechanisms of pharmaceutical pricing to improve the population’s access to pharmaceuticals in Georgia” has been presented at the meeting. This rapid response document represented international practice and scientific evidence. The document was prepared by Curatio International Foundation in collaboration with Healthcare and Social Issues Committee and the Research Department of the Parliament of Georgia. The initiative is financially supported by the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (AHPSR), under the World Health Organization (WHO). Technical support has been provided by the Knowledge Translation Program at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, the American University of Beirut, Knowledge to Policy centre (K2P) and Makerere University.

The meeting was multidisciplinary, the attendees were the representatives of Government Agencies, the Parliament of Georgia, academia, pharmaceutical companies and associations, medical associations, NGOs and experts in the field. Participants discussed the proposed mechanisms and the implementation possibilities. After completion of consultation process the final document will be shared to policy makers and meeting participants to take actionable steps and improve access to pharmaceuticals.
