Board of Directors

CIF succeeds in achieving its goals with the team of professionals in its governing and managing body.

The Board of Directors governs organization’s direction and strategies for setting organizational policies. The Board, headed by the Chairman of the Board, is composed of nine members elected for a three year long renewable term, to serve a maximum of nine years. Our board members represent diverse sectors – public, private, academia, healthcare, etc.

Board meetings take place at least twice a year to oversee and assess the foundation’s overall performance, provide strategic guidance, review, revise and approve new policies, and set targets for the foundation’s management team. The rapid and progressive development of the Curatio International Foundation is largely based on the merits of the Board who have supported and intervened whenever necessary throughout the years of organization’s existence.

The Board is headed by Dr. Bidzina Mgaloblishvili.

 

Bidzina Mgaloblishvili, MD

Chairman of the Board

Dr. Bidzina Mgaloblishvili has been chairing the board since 2006. He is the General Director of the Tbilisi Mental Health Center. His input in the development of the mental health care field is huge. In early 90-ies he has graduated from N.P Ogoriov Sanarnsk State University and Tbilisi State University as s Medical Doctor. During the 6 years a a chairman Dr.Mgaloblishvili has channeled valuable resources and commitment to the benefits of the organization.

 

Elene Imnadze, MPA

Board Member

Ms. Elene Imnadze has been a part of the team of the World Bank Office in Georgia in her capacity as Senior Public Sector Specialist and Senior Programs Coordinator covering World Bank funded projects in Georgia. She has worked on education, legal, public finance, and structural reforms in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Kazakhstan. She has made valuable contributions to the Bank’s analytical work through inputs to the Georgia Public Expenditures and Financial Accountability Assessment, Georgia Secondary Education Sector Note, Georgia Poverty Assessment Series, Country Procurement Assessment Reports, and Georgia Civil Service Analysis. She is very familiar with many aspects of project management work, leadership, and

consultancy, through her work with organizations like the Knowledge Fund of Free University, UMCOR, and the UN System in Italy. Ms. Imnadze holds an MA in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, and BA in Oriental Studies from Tbilisi state University.

 

Alexander (Sandro) Tsiskaridze, MD, Professor, 

Board Member

Professor of Neurology, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Scientific Director and Head of the Neurovascular Service at the Sarajishvili Institute of Neurology and Head of Neurological Service at Medical Centre CITO.

After obtaining the Honor Diploma of Medical Doctor from Tbilisi State Medical University, Alexander Tsiskaridze continued his academic career in Sarajishvili Institute of Neurology in the capacity of intern (1988-1989). In the late 90ies he has undertaken European Neurological Society Fellowship in Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne, Switzerland and later he gained Swiss National Science Foundation Fellowship at the same University (2003-2004).

Dr. Tsiskaridze started his professional career since late 80ies at Sarajishvili Institute of Neurology in the capacity of Junior Scientific Researcher. Later he became Senior Scientific Researcher, Head of Research Department and finally held the position of Scientific Director.

Dr. Tsiskaridze is the author of 53 scientific articles. He has received numerous international and local degrees, awards and honors including the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD), the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Sarajishvili Medal and Honour Diploma for Achievements in Neurological Research of Georgian Association of Neurologist and Neurosurgeons, Young Investigator’s Award of the European Stroke Council, Bruce Schoenberg International Award in Neuroepidemiology of the American Academy of Neurology, Georgian National Scientific Prize and Silver Medal for the Cycle of Papers on Cerebrovascular Disorders, etc.

Aside from CIF board membership, Dr. Tsiskaridze is the member of Scientific Panel on Stroke, and Scientific Panel on Dementia of the European Federation of Neurological Societies, Editorial Board of European Neurology, Board of Directors and Founding Fellow at European Stroke Organization. He serves as a peer-reviewer of various international scientific journals including Stroke, Cerebrovascular Diseases, European Neurology and Frontiers in Neurology.

 

Giorgi Tavkhelidze

Board Member

Giorgi Tavkhelidze joined the board in 2008. During board sessions his comments always stand out with rationality and demonstrate deep understanding of many critical issues. His strengths have mainly focused on private sector. Since 2007 he has been occupying the position of Marketing Director at Karvasla, Netherlands-Georgian Developer Company and Director at developer company» My House Corporation”. During 1996-2001 years he has been managing marketing direction at different organizations.

He has contributed to raising awareness and boosting public interest towards first pension scheme since he has planned and implemented marketing campaign targeting establishment of the mentioned scheme in 2001-2002. During 2003-2004 years he coordinated marketing component of the World Bank funded Preparation of a Georgia Social Protection Reform Project.

 

Iagor Kalandadze, MSc in Biophysics, PhD, Doctor of Biological Sciences

Board Member

Iagor Kalandadze joined the board of the Curatio International Foundation in 2011.

Mr. Kalandadze was the Vice-Rector, Head of the Quality Insurance Department and Professor of Biomedicine at David Aghmashenebeli University of Georgia (DAUG) in 2012-2013.

His academic background involves MSc in Biophysics from Tbilisi State University and PhD from Andronikashvili Institute of Physics.

Mr. Kalandadze has been actively involved in the health sector since early 90ies. His strengths have mainly focused on research and scientific investigations plus general management at different institutions of the health sector. His professional career started in 1986 at the Institute of Physics in the capacity of Post-graduate Researcher. Later on, in 1990 Mr. Kalandadze was promoted to Senior Researcher in the same institute where he worked for 6 years.

For more than 20 years, in the capacity of manager Iagor Kalandadze has worked with Medical-Diagnostic Center of the Tbilisi State University, Parliament of Georgia, the Ministry of Health of Georgia, Tbilisi State University and National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases.

He is the member of CCM of Georgia, Green Light Committee for the WHO European Region, and Council for Accreditation of Educational Programs of Georgia.

In 1999 Mr. Kalandadze earned Georgian President’s Stipend (1st Honor) for The Young Investigators. Since 2010 he has been the member of International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases.

Iagor Kalandadze’s dedication to scientific works has made valuable contribution to the development of health sector. Mr. Kalandadze is the author of over 40 publications, out of which fifteen are impact-factor magazines and 28 as an index of citation.
