Countries Unite in Manila to Strengthen Advocacy for New Vaccine Introduction through Collaborative Learning

Manila, Philippines – August 2025

From July 22–24, 2025, representatives from Cuba, St. Lucia, Maldives, Mongolia, Vietnam, and the Philippines gathered in Manila for a dynamic three-day workshop organized by the Linked Immunization Action Network, focused on “Supporting the Prioritization of Domestic Resources for New Vaccine Introduction.”

Linked is Gavi supported collaborative learning platform to support middle income countries to achieve their immunisation and new vaccine introduction objectives through peer-to-peer learning approaches.

This interactive workshop brought together the national immunization program managers, persons responsible for immunization financial planning, CSO representatives to discuss and share “how-to” implementation of advocacy approaches for domestic resource mobilization to support the successful introduction and scale-up of key new vaccines.

Through a collaborative learning model, the participants:

  • Identified common challenges and priority learning needs related to vaccine financing
  • Developed high-level, country-specific advocacy frameworks
  • Engaged in peer-to-peer exchanges to receive feedback and refine strategies
  • And finalized concrete action plans to advance domestic resource mobilization efforts upon returning home

Each country team left with a tailored advocacy roadmap and renewed momentum to drive forward the introduction or scale-up of life-saving vaccines, backed by sustainable domestic financing.

The workshop exemplified the power of cross-country exchange and mutual learning. Participants shared experiences, challenges, and good practices, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration across diverse contexts. Aligned under the Gavi MICs approach objectives the Alliance partners at the global, regional and country levels (WHO, UNICEF) and PATH participated and technically contributed to the Linked workshop.

The Linked Immunisation Action Network (Linked) is led by Results for Development (R4D) in partnership with Curatio International Foundation (CIF), and with funding from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Linked brings together immunization practitioners, policymakers, and partners from middle-income countries to identify common immunization program challenges and the transformative solutions that will lead to greater resilience, equity, and sustainability.

Through collaborative peer-to-peer learning, the network engages member countries to:

  • Understand top immunization program challenges
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge sharing
  • Support the implementation of good practices and lessons learned
