Healthcare Advocacy Coalition (HAC) for Human Oriented Healthcare

On November 6, 2018, 25 civil society organizations agreed on coalition work and signed a new union positioning document. The Healthcare Advocacy Coalition (HAC) has emerged as an union of the different actors active in healthcare, health systems, good governance and human rights fields. The network has naturally emerged as a result of project entitled as “Strengthen civil society and increase their involvement in health policy development and monitoring” which has been implemented by Curatio International Foundation (CIF), with financial support of Open Society Foundations (OSF) and Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).

Coalition plans to be actively engaged in policy making processes and to keep active collaboration with Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia. The Coalition also plans to improve linkage and try to work with the Parliament of Georgia and to increase the possibility of involvement is decision-making processes within the MoILHSA. At the  same time the coalition will work to improve of partnership with international partners in order to increase accountability of Government.

To fulfill this goals, the Healthcare Advocacy Coalition will work in the two strategic directions:

  1. Quality and availability of health services and medicines
  2. Healthcare System and Policy: Monitoring, Training, and Advocacy

The Coalition has a host organization acting as a secretariat. As a result of the voting, the first host organization of the union became the Curatio International Foundation.
